My name is Sarah Marie. I am wife to Charlie and a mother to four gorgeous sons, Joshua, Theodore, Zachary and Barnaby.
With 30 years of experience as a schoolteacher, including more recent work supporting children with special educational needs on a one-to-one basis, I have dedicated much of my life to caring for, supporting and understanding others. I also have extensive experience leading women’s groups and creating safe, nurturing and healing environments where people feel supported, connected and able to share their experiences.
My husband, Charlie, is a Funeral Director, and I have had the privilege of supporting him in his work for many years. This has given me a deeper understanding of the importance of compassion, sensitivity and personal care when supporting families through the loss of someone they love.
My own journey towards becoming a Funeral Celebrant began 17 years ago, following the loss of my wonderful Mum. I was honoured to write and deliver her eulogy on behalf of my family. The experience of reflecting on her life, telling her story and sharing our memories, together with the heartfelt feedback I received afterwards, inspired me to explore professional Celebrancy.
Over the years, I have had the sacred privilege of walking alongside families experiencing profound grief, including the heartbreaking loss of children and the tragic death of a teenager through suicide. These experiences have deepened my understanding of grief and reinforced my belief that every life deserves to be honoured with tenderness, dignity and authenticity.
I am a fully qualified Funeral Celebrant and a proud member of the Fellowship of Professional Celebrants. I believe that every person has a unique story to tell, and that a funeral service should be a true reflection of the individual, their personality, their values and the memories they leave behind.
With warmth, compassion and empathy, I will work closely with you and your family to create a personal and meaningful service that celebrates the life of your loved one. I will listen carefully to your stories, help you find the words when they are difficult to express, and gently guide you through the process with understanding and care.
It is an immense privilege to be entrusted with such an important part of a family’s journey. My aim is to create a beautiful, heartfelt and memorable farewell that honours the life lived, celebrates the love shared and brings comfort to those left behind.
